Escaramuza originated in Mexico, dating back to the 19th century, where women rode horses to demonstrate their horsemanship and independence.

Escaramuza is more than just a sport, it is a vibrant expression of Mexican heritage. Based from the traditions of Charrería, this all-female equestrian discipline showcases breathtaking horsemanship and honors the brave women who shaped Mexican history.

Wilderness Horse Adventures has formed a partnership with an escaramuza training facility in Baja California Sur, Mexico.   We are now fortunate to be invited to experience and learn the true escaramuza culture from a professional Charra (escaramuza rider) trainer.

Some horse-riding experience is helpful, however, everyone will be learning new technical skills that are in alignment with the traditional escaramuza riding.   Traditionally the women ride side saddle however we practice in western saddles but we will have to opportunity to experience side saddle riding if you would like.   With a progressive teaching style each day we build on our dance routine to perfect a sequence on day 5.   Photos and videos will be shared for endless memories.

This retreat is a unique and personalized horseriding experience.   Max 2 hours of riding per day (that can be adjusted to your comfort) with an hour of history and skill sharing.

Accommodation will be at the Perro Sufero holistic boutique hotel in the coastal historic magical town of Todos Santos.

When taking a break from riding, enjoy sightseeing in Todos Santos, relax by the pool or at the beach, enjoy the restaurants, visit with the whales and release the baby turtles into the sea at sunset.  The activites are endless.

You are welcome to create a group of your own of 3-4 women and book your private retreat or join other single travellers and meet new friends.
